From July 16 to 25, 2024, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (UHM) and Diponegoro University (UNDIP) in Semarang, Indonesia organized their third joint international immersive summer course, entitled “Sustainability and Resilience in Spatial Development.” During the course, students from both UHM and UNDIP attended lectures, conducted field research, and visited local neighborhoods facing unique and significant urban environmental challenges. Studio-style group work enabled students to collaboratively analyze problems and propose potential solutions at public presentations that concluded the program.
